Grilling Tips for Father’s Day

At RPM Restaurants, we’re excited to share some exclusive grilling tips from Executive Chef Partner Bob Broskey and Bill Rancic, award-winning tv show personality, entrepreneur, and puts the R in RPM. Here are the tips and tricks for the perfect RPM 8-ounce Creekstone Filet and RPM Steak Burger, now available in our RPM Father’s Day Grill Kits here.

What makes the perfect Filet?

If you’re a steak lover, our RPM 8-ounce Creekstone Filet, sourced from the renowned Creekstone Farms, is a must-try. These filets are celebrated for their tenderness and lean cut, with just the right amount of marbling to make them incredibly flavorful.

Here’s how to prepare the perfect filet:

  • Seasoning: Start with RPM’s Steak Salt and coarse ground black pepper. This special blend, developed by Chef Bob and his team, enhances the natural flavors of the meat.
  • Resting: For the best results, let your steaks come to room temperature before cooking. This step ensures even cooking and prevents the dreaded gray ring on the outside. Chef Bob suggests taking the steaks out of the fridge at least an hour before you plan to cook.
  • Cooking: Preheat a cast iron pan until it starts to smoke. Sear the filet for about 3 minutes per side to achieve a perfect crust. Then, transfer the pan to a 375°F oven and cook for another 4-5 minutes. Finish by basting with butter, garlic, and herbs for an extra layer of flavor.
  • Pro Tip: Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. For a perfect medium-rare, aim for 125°F in the center of the filet.

What makes the perfect RPM Steak Burger?

Now, let’s talk about the RPM Steak Burger. Made with a custom blend of chuck, short rib, and brisket, these burgers are designed to deliver an outstanding flavor profile.

Here’s how to make the best steak burger at home:

  • Seasoning: Keep it simple with salt and coarse ground black pepper. This allows the quality of the meat to really stand out.
  • Cooking: Preheat a cast iron pan with a generous amount of olive oil. This helps create a delicious crust on the burger. Cook the patties for about 2 minutes per side. Chef Bob loves using cast iron because it maintains even heat, but you can also use a grill or griddle.
  • Finishing Touches: Toast brioche buns in the pan to keep them from getting soggy. For a gourmet touch, add horseradish cream and caramelized onions. At RPM Steak, we often use crispy onions, but caramelized onions are a fantastic and easier option at home.
  • Pro Tip: If you like cheese on your burgers, place it on the patty immediately after flipping it. This ensures the cheese melts perfectly.

Why Creekstone?

Our commitment to quality starts with our ingredients. Creekstone Farms has been our go-to for filets for years, consistently winning our annual blind taste tests. This ensures that every filet you receive is of the highest quality, with unparalleled flavor and tenderness.

Chef Bob shares, “The beauty of working with Creekstone filets is the consistency. Even for a leaner cut, the marbling is exceptional, ensuring every bite is tender and flavorful. Plus, knowing the purveyors and their commitment to quality gives us confidence in every dish we serve.”

Final Thoughts

We hope these tips help you enjoy the exceptional flavors of RPM from the comfort of your home. Whether you’re impressing guests or enjoying a quiet night in, these grilling tips will elevate your culinary game. Happy grilling!
