La Fête du Champagne | Dinner with Frédéric Savart
Friday, October 23 | 6:30 PM
Frédéric Savart is one of the most compelling grower-producers in all of Champagne, a fiercely independent winemaker whose wines have quietly become some of the most coveted in the world. Born into a family of vignerons, Frédéric joined his father to work on the family estate founded by his grandfather René, who first purchased his first vines in Écueil in 1947. Since 2005, Frédéric has been at the helm, steadily elevating the quality and reputation of the estate.
This dinner with the man himself will begin with an array of wines expressing distinctive yet varied soils of Ecueil and Villers-aux-Nœuds in the Petite Montagne de Reims, producing wines that simultaneously vibrant and refined. More recently, Frédéric has ventured outside the family’s historical parcels into other prime areas of the Marne. Guests will taste two of the results from the magnum–Gran Cru Pinot Noir from the lieu-dit “Les Voiettes” in Verzenay as well as Grand Cru Chardonnay from Le Mesnil sur Oger. Closing with a pair of rosés underlining Frédéric’s mastery of the rosé d’assemblage method, this evening at RPM Steak is a superb opportunity to meet one of Champagne’s great winemaking personalities and taste some truly rare bottling.
